Naomi has a special interest in understanding people and cultures. In secondary school she studied Physics, Modern History, Food Technology, Studies of Religion, Advanced Mathematics and Advanced English. She went on to study subjects that would support her interest in people and cultures.

The study of psychology has provided Naomi with a good basis for understanding different ways of thinking, motives and values. It has also provided her the tools with which to increase her self-awareness as a means to achieving her goals.

Naomi has a passion for Kenyan and East African culture, language and politics. She has basic Kiswhaili language understanding. She enjoys working with the Kenyan youth and being part of locally organised development projects. She recently assisted with developing a business proposal plan for an aid organisation.

Naomi recently produced the following research paper:

  • Closing the Gap? Indigenous Alcohol Restrictions and Rational Policy-Making
An Analysis of the Northern Territory Emergency Response Intervention towards a Network Model of Governance 2007 – 2011

She has worked in leadership roles as shift coordinator at a child care centre, and as a leader at various youth groups and camps in Sydney and in Kenya. She is also interested in Scandinavian culture, language and policy, and is currently learning Swedish. She plans to study a semester on exchange in Sweden in 2012.
